Chris and Rebecca

How we got here!

Chris and Rebecca have known each other since high school. They grew up only a few doors from one another and always admired one another's flair for fashion. Adult life saw them head down different paths, but a chance meeting about seven years ago saw a friendship rekindled.

Over the course of the last few years, their common interests in art and creative pursuits have seen them set up a very successful art studio for children, a gift shop and art gallery selling the work of several of Guernsey's finest creatives, as well as their own artistic endeavours.

Rebecca is an accomplished artist in her own right, and her first solo exhibition was a stunning collection of wildlife pictures. Big, bold acrylic paintings showcase her whimsical and dreamy portrayal of the beauty of nature through her unique and vibrant style.

​

Chris, too, has accomplished much in his chosen field of wildlife photography. With several solo exhibitions, magazine and telephone book covers and two books of local stamps, using his images, Chris is well known and appreciated beyond the shores of Guernsey. But it is his passion for writing and sharing his experiences and encounters in the natural world that paved the way for the creation of Bale & Swain Publishing.

It was hardly a surprise when these two lives collided that they would eventually collaborate and create works together. Rebecca's long-held dream of becoming an illustrator and Chris's body of poetic tales were a match made in heaven. And so 'The Unseen Parade' has finally become their first, self-published work.

They are already working on their second book, 'The Last Summer Swallow', and they intend to continue publishing children's books for as long as they are able and as long as people are enjoying them.
